Description
The Royal Mint has issued the silver Britannia coin since 2013, struck in 999.0 fine silver.
The reverse features Britannia with her trident; the female personification of Britian and an image which has symbolized British naval strength on coinage since Roman times. The obverse bears Her Majesty The Queen's portrait, as created by Jody Clark and introduced in 2015. The Queen is wearing the King George IV State Diadem - the crown worn for the State Opening of Parliament - as well as special Diamond Jubilee drop pearl earrings.
The silver Britannia coin, with a face value of £2, is classified as UK legal tender and is therefore a Capital Gains Tax Free investment for all UK tax payers. It remains one of the most popular choices among UK investors looking to diversify in silver.
