The 1oz  American Eagle was first produced in 1986 by the United States Mint.

On the 2024 iteration of the American Eagle Gold Coin, the obverse takes inspiration from the design for Augustus Saint - Gauden's celebrated $20 which features the standing figure of Lady Liberty striding forwards as the sun rises behind her. She holds a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.

2021 marked the 35^th Anniversary of the American Eagle coin and as such heralded a new design for the reverse side of the coin. The new design by Jennie Norris features a close up portrait of an eagle’s bald head.

The actual gold weight of the American Eagle is 1oz and the coin has a face value of US $50. With its appealing attributes for collectors and bullion investors, the American Eagle is one of the world's most popular gold coins.
