Description
The first 20 Francs Gold Coin was circulated by Napoleon Boneparte during his reign as First Consult of France, earning them the moniker "Napoleons". They continued to be referenced by the name long after Napoleon had completed his reign and the design of the coins no longer bore his portrait.
These coins span a rich history of France throughout the 19th Century, as they were struck for more than 100 years beginning in 1803.
As a 'Best Value' coin, each coin may come from any year of mintage, with one of our experts selecting the best available at the time of purchase. This will also affect the design and date you receive. In the images pictured the reverse of the coin features a rooster, while the obverse features the head of Marianne designed by J.C Chaplain. Marianne has served as a symbol of the French Republic since the French revolution; she embodies the quintessential French values of liberty, equality and fraternity.
Each 20 Francs Gold Coin contains 6.45g of 900.0 pure gold, equivalent to 21.6 carats and would make a wonderful addition to any precious metal collection.
