The Mexican 50 Pesos Gold Coin was one of the world's first gold bullion coins, even pre-dating the popular South African Kruggerand. 

The coin was designed by Emilio Del Moral; on its obverse is the 'Angel of Independence' statue, which was erected in Mexico City to honour 100 years since Mexico's War of Independence against Spain. Meanwhile the reverse side displays the Mexican Coat of Arms which features an eagle atop a cactus, with a snake in its beak - an image inspired by Aztec legend. 

The coins were officially minted between 1921 and 1947, further mintages took place after 1947, but these were known as restrikes and dated 1947. 

The Mexican 50 Pesos contains 1.206 troy ounces of fine gold and is one of the few bullion coins to feature angelic imagery. Various years of issue are available and the coins are delivered in our protective plastic flips.
