The 2022 1kg Cook Islands Coin is struck in .9999 fine silver, and has a face value of 30 dollars.

The obverse of the 1kg Cook Islands Silver Coin displays Queen Elizabeth II’s ‘fourth portrait’, designed by Ian Rank Broadley. Meanwhile the reverse shows the HMS Bounty sailing to the left on a background of fine lines providing a wave-like illusion.  

The infamous HMS Bounty was sold to the Royal Navy in May 1787 and commissioned on its first and final voyage from England to Tahiti to collect a cargo of breadfruit saplings for transportation to the West Indies. It was during this journey that a mutiny led by Fletcher Christian took place; he and his fellow mutineers then sailed through the Cook Islands searching the South Pacific for a safe haven, eventually settling in the Pitcairn Islands.
