Description
The 2014 1oz Silver Lunar Year of the Horse is made by the Royal Mint and is the forth coin of their Shengxiào Collection, celebrating the Chinese Lunar calendar. Each legal tender Lunar coin contains one ounce of 999 fine silver. The face value of this 1oz coin is £2, but in reality is worth much more as an investment grade bullion coin. As they are pre-owned, you can expect these coins to be in good to fair condition, and may have small tarnishes or milk spots, but please rest assured, this has no bearing on their silver content.
The image on the reverse of the coin shows a rooster, surrounded by ten Marsh Daisies (sea-thrift), representing the tenth animal in the lunar cycle. The reverse face was designed by British Chinese artist Wuon-Gean Ho. Meanwhile the obverse shows the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by designer Jody Clark.
Classed as British legal tender, the 2017 1oz Silver Lunar Year of the Rooster is Capital Gains Tax exempt, making this a popular choice among UK investors.
