Description
The 2021 2oz Queen’s Beasts White Greyhound of Richmond Silver Coin is struck in 999.9 fine silver, minted by the Royal Mint and designed by Jody Clark.
When Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, the entrance to Westminster Abbey was guarded by ten fantastical creatures, The Queen's Beasts. Produced by The Royal Mint, this collection of ten 1oz gold coins is inspired by the ancestral beasts of heraldry, myth and legend that watched over The Queen throughout her extraordinary reign.
The White Greyhound of Richmond is the 10th and final release in the hugely popular series of the ten Queens Beasts. The White Greyhound was favoured by the Duke of Lancaster and Earl of Richmond, who was the father of Henry IV. The Greyhound represents honour and showed links with the north of England and with the Celtic Britons. The coin image, as in the original statue, bears a shield with the Tudor Rose topped by a Royal Crown.
With a face value of £5, this coin is classed as legal tender and therefore exempt from Capital Gains Tax, making it a popular choice among UK investors.
