Description

The 1oz Philharmonic coin struck in 999.0 fine silver is known for its classic design of the pipe organ in the Musikverein, a concert hall in Vienna which is home to the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. The coin also depicts an array of instruments including four violins centered on a cello, french horn, harp and bassoon. The design of the coin remains the same each year and both the obverse and reverse were designed by engraver Thomas Pesendorfer, the chief engraver of the Austrian Mint.

Following the popularity of its gold conterpart, it is one of the most recently issued bullion coins and has been minted in Austria only since 2008. It is also known around the world as the Silver Harmony.
