Argor-Heraeus
Located in Mendrisio, Argor-Heraeus is one of Switzerland's largest precious metals refineries. They refine silver, gold, platinum and palladium in addition to producing investment grade precious metal bars for wholesale and retail markets. Argor-Heraeus’s client base is drawn from over 50 countries.
In 2017, Argor-Heraeus become part of the Global Business Unit Heraeus Precious Metals (HPM) belonging to the German technological group Heraeus. This move saw Heraeus, the largest global provider in the precious metals industry, raise its shareholding stake in Argor-Heraeus from 33% previously.
Argor-Heraeus is headquartered in Mendrisio in the Swiss Canton of Ticino, beside the Italian border.
Argor-Heraeus can refine gold to a purity of 999.99, for use in specialist applications and electronic components. This surpasses the LBMA Good Delivery standard of 995.
The Argor-Heraeus refinery produces cast gold bars in a range of sizes (including 1kg, 500g, 250g and 100g) as well as minted bars.
Argor-Heraeus's annual production capacity totals 350 to 400 tonnes of gold per year. They are able to refine gold up to 99.99% and 99.999% purities, silver up to 99.9% and palladium and platinum up to 99.95%. The Argor-Heraeus bullion bar range comprises cast and minted gold bars, minted silver bars, platinum bars, palladium bars, kinebars, multicard bar products as well as precious metals coins.
Argor-Heraeus is one of only five refinery members of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) good delivery referee panel, which assists the LBMA is maintaining quality standards of refinery members worldwide. Their environmental commitments include sustainable development programmes, reduction of carbon emissions and strict due diligence policies to ensure a green supply chain.
