In September 2017, Sharps Pixley became one of the first precious metal dealers to begin accepting Bitcoin as payment method for gold bars, gold coins and other precious metals via leading crypto payment processor Bitpay. 

As one of the most trusted providers of precious metals in the UK, Sharps Pixley now accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to provide greater choice to customers, both when making a purchase online or voice broking for larger transactions. 

Sharps Pixley now accept Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), USD Coin (USDC), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Paxos Standard (PAX) and Binance USD (BUSD) for all precious metals. 

Buying gold bullion online with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is easy via our online shop. We support deposits from popular cryptocurrency wallets; Blockchain, BitPay, Ledger wallet, Trezor wallet and cryptocurrency exchanges; Coinbase, Kraken, Coinfloor and Bitstamp for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ripple deposits. 

For Ethereum and USD stable coin deposits, you’ll need to use a Web 3.0-enabled Ethereum wallets and browsers, such as Metamask, Coinbase Wallet, Opera Browser, Brave Browser or BitPay.

Voice Broking

Voice brokerage is at the heart of what we do and for larger transactions, clients can benefit from trade execution over the phone. Once transaction details are finalised, we can either send an email link for payment or provide a wallet address.

In-Store, Over the Counter

Clients can also purchase gold bars and coins using cryptocurrencies at the Sharps Pixley bullion shop at 54 St James’s Street. This is especially useful for smaller transactions and provides you with the opportunity to browse all our bullion products.

How to pay
with BitPay

The payment process with cryptocurrencies is simple and secure, just follow the five steps below or if you prefer to deal directly over the phone, then please call or email the team and we can adapt to your requirements.

1.

First you’ll need a cryptocurrency wallet / account

BitPay supports deposits from popular wallets such as Blockchain, Trezor, Ledger and BitPay and exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken, BitStamp and Coinfloor when buying precious metals with Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ripple. For Ethereum and USD stable coin payments, you’ll need to use a Web 3.0-enabled Ethereum wallet and browser.

2.

Browse the bullion products and add to basket

Sharps Pixley offer an extensive range of precious metal products and gift items which clients can pay for using cryptocurrencies. You simply have to browse the products and click add to basket. To view crypto prices for bullion bars and coins, you can do so at the bottom of this page using our live pricelist.

3.

Follow the checkout process to payment options

At checkout, you will be asked to enter your personal information and delivery address, before selecting pay with BitPay from the payment methods. If the order is above £5,000, then we will require a valid photo ID and proof of address, dated within the last 3 months. This will be requested after the transaction has been confirmed.

4.

Making a cryptocurrency payment

To make a payment, you won't need to enter any sensitive card information. Instead, you'll simply send the payment from your wallet app. Once redirected to the BitPay Payment Page, you will first be invited to select the wallet/service you want to pay with. You can also filter the list of wallets per supported deposit currencies.

5.

Select cryptocurrency

On the next step you select the currency you want to pay with in order to get to the address and amount to be used for the payment. Remember to send your payment during the 15-minute payment window. BitPay only guarantees the exchange rate for this time period. Do not send payments to expired invoices.

Making payment with BitPay

Scan the QR Code

If your wallet is on a different mobile device, you can scan the QR code display to complete the payment in your mobile wallet. Your wallet will lock in the correct receiving address and sending amount.

Open in Wallet

If your wallet is on the device you're using to view the invoice, you can open the payment in your wallet by tapping on the Open in Wallet button. Confirm everything is correct, and your wallet will make the payment.

Send Payment Manually

Copy the payment URL or cryptocurrency address and amount from the invoice to your wallet, check your payment details, and send the payment.
